Create Your Office Spring Cleaning Plan

With spring right around the corner, it’s time to start making a plan for your spring cleaning. Whether you run a business or you’re simply trying to clean out your personal office, having a spring cleaning schedule will help you get through the task at hand as quickly and efficiently as possible. Here are some tips to help you create your office spring cleaning plan.

Make a List of Cleaning Tasks

Take some time to come up with a list of all the spring cleaning tasks you want to accomplish. This could be anything from clearing out the cabinets in the break room to sorting through the junk pile in the mail room. If you have a janitorial staff for your office, ask them for suggestions for these tasks. You may also get input from your employees because they may know about messes you are unaware of.

Option 1: Complete Each Task, One by One

There are two different ways you can go about setting up your office spring cleaning plan. The first is to take the list of tasks you created and complete them one by one. This may be done with the help of your cleaning staff, your employees, or a mixture of both. Depending on the types of tasks you need completed, you may delegate certain tasks to certain staff members. Others may require everyone’s participation. For instance, you may ask your receptionists to clean up old client files, but you may ask the entire staff to go through their work lockers.

As each task is completed, mark it off the list and set out to finish a new one.

Option 2: Clean Areas of the Office, One by One

The second option for creating a spring cleaning plan involves cleaning out areas in your office, not completing individual tasks. You might clean out the waiting room first, then the conference room, then the storage room, etc. This often works well in small offices with a limited number of cleaning tasks to complete. If you plan to do this, make sure you clean from the top of the room to the bottom, in case dust, dirt, or other particles fall from the shelves above. This will save you from having to re-clean the same area several times over.

Invest in Professional Spring Cleaning

You always have the option to have professional cleaners spring clean your office. They will create their own plan, with your needs in consideration, and complete the job at your convenience. If you need the cleaning to happen after hours, that is possible. If you need the cleaners to work quietly while you continue operations, that is possible as well. You’ll save money in the long run this way because you won’t have to pay your employees to work extra hours or perform extra tasks. You will also be guaranteed better results because the cleaning crew has the tools and expertise they need to get the job done right. Keep this in mind as you move closer to your spring cleaning, and you may be surprised by how great the results are.
